The highlights video of a Catholic wedding held at the St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Parramatta . Reception was at the Holroyd Centre. My good friends from Roy Grafix Photography provided the photography coverage. Thanks to them for letting me use their photo for my blog. The music is a Tamil song Omana Penne by Vinnathaandi Var.
Each wedding always brings new experiences for me. I specially love covering weddings from different cultures. It gives me an insight on their unique tradition and way of doing things. Like when I did this video coverage of Simonil and Shaheed’s wedding whose heritage comes from India
They actually surprised me when I met them because they don’t in any way look like Indians. They actually look more like Persians. My good friend Roy (Roy Grafix Photography did the photo coverage) explained to me that they are Parsis. Their ancestors are from Persia but had settled in India. There you go, I’ve learned something new!
Simonil and Shaheed’s wedding was held at Breakfast Point where they reside. The ceremony and reception occurred at the beautiful and classy Country club also at Breakfast Point. They had a civil ceremony followed by a Parsis ceremony.
The wedding itself was organised in haste but it was all smooth and successful.

I’ve been busy lately in the video front. I really enjoy doing video as much as photography. Although it entails a very different workflow. Also, the required equipment to do a proper video coverage is a lot more than photography. Most couples think of video as less important than photography. Hence, they tend to book a photographer first and just add video if there is money left on the budget. My opinion on this is that video should actually share the same importance as photography. Video allows you to re-live the actual day. The sights, sounds, and the emotions captured is something that no photograph can ever duplicate. Like the video of our couple Rose and Mark.
Mark performed a surprise song for Rose during the reception. The song itself is a very romantic Filipino song. The way he performed it and the emotion on both the couple’s face really shows how much they love each other. It epitomizes the very reason that a wedding day symbolizes — a couple who truly love each other binding themselves to one another. It was a truly touching scene. Hence, I made this performance (and the song) the centerpiece of their highlights video.
For my English speaking audience, please accept my apology if you can’t understand the lyrics. I’ll just do a rough translation of the refrain so you’ll get a feel on what the song means:
My Love, please have no thought
That I would ever leave you
I cannot bear to be far away from you
What I want you to know
Is how much I Love You

The wedding of these wonderful and lovely couple took place within the heart of the City. It was an Anglican ceremony.
Our couple first met at a special event in Martin Place, Sydney. Melanie originally came from New Zealand while Saeed was from Iran. Saeed was quite stricken with her after their first encounter. He then went searching for her on Facebook. Knowing only her first name and nothing else, it was a tall order finding her. His persistence eventually paid off. He managed to find her profile. He then asked her to meet up and have coffee.
Their first date occurred during Australia Day. It was quite funny because because Melanie arrived dressed beautifully while Saaed was wearing the traditional Aussie day attire — T-shirt and shorts. He really thought that he had made a bad impression with her. When Melanie came back to Sydney after graduating from New York, Saeed offered to pick her up from the airport. She looked so lovely when she arrived that he can’t resist kissing her. They had been together ever since.
The wedding ceremony was at St. Philips Anglican Church. The formal shoot took place at the Jeffrey St. Wharf in Kirribilli. The reception is at the Tea Room Gunners Barracks, Mosman.
