It was an Australia day weekend and the whole country was celebrating the birth of our great nation. it was also this time that Ann-marie and Ilcho decided to tie the knot. It was an ominous start though as there was a devastating storm in progress in Queensland. It had thus been predicted that it will be a very wet day in Sydney.
Despite of the weather, everybody was in good spirits. Our groom Ilcho is of Macedonian heritage. We where told that it is customary for them to celebrate a marriage with their own unique festivity. It is an entire party in itself lasting from early morning to noon. There’s a band performing while the family receive guests. The day is filled with dancing and merrymaking plus a few traditional events.
The women are preparing to bake a special bread
Wow! What big razors they have!
As opposed to the loud event at Ilcho’s, it is a very serene affair at Ann-marie’s.
One nice touch is that all the girls are wearing a special purple outfit with the words “Bridesmaid”. While Ann-marie was wearing a white one with “Bride” written on it.
The ceremony is at the St. Gerasimos Greek Church at Leichardt
The location shoot was at the Elkington Park in Balmain. One thing I can say about Ann-marie and Ilcho is that they are fantastic. Despite the really bad weather, they soldiered on with the shoot unfazed by the difficulties while happily acting and doing their part.
We then continued on to the reception at Villa Rosa in Leichardt.
As the wedding drew to a close, I shall remember a fun-filled Australia day wedding.
