Nurrangingy Reserve is a beautiful park located west of Sydney and very much close to my place. It is such a beautiful park and one of my favourites in Sydney. I have done so many photo shoots here although I myself feel that there’s still so many places that I haven’t explored. I am so glad when Robert and Kylie chose Nurragingy Park for their pre-wedding session. They also brought a cake with them of which I thought is meant for us to eat. I was wrong and I’ll tell you whylater.
Now a bit about our couple. Robert and Kylie first met in early 2006 through mutual friends at soccer. They both played for the same club, and their teams are friends. They would see each other at parties and nights out. Kylie’s first impression of Robert is that he was kind and sweet. The kind that wouldn’t hurt a fly. Also, he had better hair than her. Longer too! She was pretty jealous. Robert’s first impression of Kylie is she was cute, kind, light-hearted, and caring. It wasn’t until Kylie’s 20th birthday that Robert worked up the courage to ask her out that they started dating.
Her favourite memory when they first started dating was their first kiss under the stars. It coudn’t have been more romantic. She was looking down and he lifted her chin and kissed her. They were each other’s first kiss!
For Robbie (what she likes to refer to him), he fondly remembers their first trip together to Hamilton Island. They had a half a day of sunshine, followed by a week of cyclone/monsoon weather. They were in a golf buggy one night in pouring rain with their heads hanging out the side of the cart (getting soaked) so that they could see where they’re going, and not drive off a cliff.
Together, they love watching The Wanderers play soccer, cooking, swimming, and just going for a spontaneous drive together. Kylie’s personality is a bit of a stresser (complete opposite of Rob of which he lives by a “just wing it philosophy”). She also want others to be happy and laughing before her, and likes to think she is funny. Robbie is easy going and relaxed.
An event not long after they started dating was when Kylie realised that Robert is the man she wants to spend the rest of her life with. She was feeling pretty sad due to not being recognised for something she put her heart and soul into at a soccer presentation. Robbie saw this and he and his best man stole a flower centerpiece off a table, took the microphone and presented it to her to put a smile on her face! Robert’s feeling has always been that there is not one moment everyday that he is with her that he knows that she is “the one” for him.
They got engaged at the Sydney Royal Botanical Gardens. Robert organised a picnic at that place. The sky was clear-blue, then all of a sudden, it started to rain. When the rain stopped, they decided to have a photo taken by the water. He turned to take his jumper off and when he turned back, the shirt had the words “Will u marry me” imprinted. This caught her by surprise (something he rarely is able to do). She almost turned and run. But of course, she said “Yes” and the rest is history. Their friends actually filmed the proposal. Now back to the cake at our pre-wedding shoot. They actually have this idea that they will do a cake fight at the end of the photo shoot. I thought to myself…hmmm this could be interesting. So we did our shoot and then they changed to another outfit. They first started slow like a boxer probing each others style. Kylie first wiped a piece of icing on Robbie’s face. Then he hit back gently, and then suddenly it turned into an all out mayhem! It was so funny to watch and my only regret is I should have had a videoman filming the event. Another funny thing is before the “fight” one parent called (can’t remember who) asking where was the cake that they had on the fridge. Little did she know what happened to it! It was a great end (although very unusual) to a pre-wedding shoot.
Robert and Kylie are such a wonderful couple and I can’t wait to cover their wedding this coming May 2015. Stay tuned for that!
