Maria and Stan had been friends since they where in high school. Only after Maria had crashed a farewell party at Stan’s house (a few years later) did they notice and felt the attraction for each other. They had been dating for 5 years until they became engaged. The restaurant row at on the top floor of Westpoint Mail in Blacktown was where they first dated and is also the same place where Stan popped the question.
If you are a Sydneysider, you would know that this summer season is all about rain and more rain. This is so unusual as I can’t remember having any other summer where there are more cool days than hot ones.
For Maria and Stan, time was running out scheduling their pre-wedding shoot. We where having a hard time agreeing on the date because both of us where either busy or the weather forecast does not look good. So it came to the point that our last chance to shoot was only a week before the wedding date. We where praying for good weather although the forecast for the weekend was not favourable. The decision to proceed was actually made on the day itself — there was glorious sunshine in the morning.
Watsons Bay was chosen mainly because the beach has a view of the Sydney skyline and more importantly, the setting sun is visible when looking out into the water. The place itself is famous for the rock cliffs (on the other side of the beach), the lighthouse, and Doyles Seafood Restaurant.
Maria and Stan are both fun loving and are easy to get along with. We all had a great time doing the shoot. I for sure would enjoy covering their wedding day.
