Even before they met in person, Shaun and Kristen already knew that they were meant for each other. Theirs was a long distance relationship — Shaun lives in Sydney while Kristen is in Adelaide.
Their story began in September 2007 through the social media site MySpace. They had known each other for many months before Shaun summoned the courage to travel to Adelaide to meet her. When he saw her, he said “Look at you”. He thought she was so confident and gorgeous. She took his breath away! He was actually shaking when Kristen crushed him with a hug. She was already in love with him before they even met in person.
As a couple, they love getting coffee and going around the Homemaker Centre. They also enjoy board games with cheese and wine and sushi train after a long day at work. Kristen particularly remembers the first time she travelled to Sydney — he took her on a tour of his city and didn’t let go of her hand the whole time.
Shaun proposed to Kristen at their new house. They received the keys to their home and wanted to spend their first night there – no furniture, just a picnic rug, an esky, music and monopoly. They were listening to music and relaxing, and then their song came on – Shaun told Kristen how he wanted to make their house their home by making memories in it with her, and wanted to start those memories that night. He got down on one knee with ring box in hand, used her full name, and made her the happiest girl in the universe. He was also over the moon to get the question out. Months and months of planning and secrets paid off. He had no doubt about her response but was still floating on air to hear her say “Yes”.
I’m happy to say that I’ve enjoyed every minute of my time spent with this lovely couple. Their total love for each other is what makes weddings such a beautiful and joyous occasion. Congratulations Shaun and Kristen! I have no doubt that you both will spend the rest of your life together!
