Another hidden gem of a location within Sydney Harbour is were we found ourselves for the pre-wedding shoot of Joy and Stephen. I was told that the location would be at Forty Baskets Beach. So when I got there and parked our car, I wasn’t really sure that I was in the right place as I can’t find a beach that resembles something that is worth shooting. Only then when our couple arrived that they showed us the way. Forty Baskets Beach is not easy to find as there are no signs and is mostly known only to locals in the area.
About our couple — Joy first met Stephen when she travelled to Adelaide for work. He was the very first one she saw when walking into a room. She describes Stephen as like and angel, blue eyes with the cheekiest and friendliest smile that can light up a room. She was immediately hooked! She actually hated the fact that she has to travel to Adelaide for work but it was a blessing in disguise. They had started their relationship by the time she got back to Sydney,
Living on the northern beaches they love to be near the beach, swimming, going for walks, and paddle boarding, They enjoy having a lazy day and watching DVDs or favourite shows on the couch. They love shopping for their home, buying groceries, furniture etc, which strengthens their commitment to one another. Stephen is passionate about race cars and supporting his favourite AFL team – Carlton. Although Joy don’t enjoy any of those things, she enjoy attending the events and supporting him. She thinks it can be quite fun watching a football game because the atmosphere is pretty cool. Although she can’t say the same for race car events but she’ll get there..(maybe).
It took Stephen 3 attempts to propose to Joy! His initial plan was to do it on the beach, by sunset while on holiday at Surfers Paradise. Unfortunately, Joy got sick and was bedridden all night. The second attempt was at the restaurant inside Q1, the tallest building on the Gold Coast. Unfortunately again, she was wearing thongs and they wouldn’t let her inside. Finally, they took a stroll around the corner and he proposed to her mid-air, while they were on the ferris wheel overlooking the views of the beach! What’s funny is that they didn’t know which hand it had to go on!!! They googled for the answer while in the Ferris wheel!
I really enjoyed the pre-wedding session with them. They are such a nice couple and was so easy to work with. Joy and Stephen are set to marry in February 2014. Watch out for our coverage of the event.
